New features in version 10.2.0 Report Studio

This section describes new features in this release.

• Updated world and Africa maps
  The world and Africa maps were updated to include the region of South Sudan in IBM® Cognos® Report Studio version 10.2.0.
• Interactive repeater tables
  You can now add interactive behavior to repeater tables in IBM Cognos Active Report.
• Improved IBM Cognos Active Report integration with IBM Cognos Workspace
  Check boxes and sliders in workspaces in IBM Cognos Workspace can now drive IBM Cognos Active Report.
• Improved support for bidirectional languages
  IBM Cognos Report Studio offers improved support for bidirectional languages.
• Macro tab in expression editor
  A macro tab is now available in the IBM Cognos Report Studio expression editor. With the macro tab, you can add parameter maps, session parameters, and macro functions to expressions.
• Inherited table styles in lists and crosstabs
  When an item is inserted in a list or crosstab, the item inherits the table style of one of the items in the data container.
• Enhanced crosstab headers
  In crosstabs, you can display headers that indicate the parent categories of the data items in the columns and rows. The headers help users to understand where the data is located in the hierarchy.
• Prompt API
  A JavaScript Prompt API is available to provide report authors with a method of customizing prompt interaction in the reports that they author.
• Excel 2007 Data report output format
  A new Excel output format, Excel 2007 Data, is available in IBM Cognos Report Studio. The Excel 2007 Data report output format generates native Microsoft Excel 2007 spreadsheets containing list report data for further manipulation.
• Global classes for accessible reports
  New global classes that you can apply to text objects were added to IBM Cognos Report Studio. The new classes make text easier to read for visually impaired users.

• New Human Tasks
  There are two new human tasks that you can create in IBM® Cognos® Event Studio: approval request tasks and notification request tasks.

• New features in version 10.1.1 Metric Studio

  Listed below are new features since the last release.
  • Select chart type under the General tab
    You can now select the chart type under the General tab of the New/Edit type page.
  • Consistent metric views
    You can now create consistent default display columns for the metric list view and metric UI summary line view.
  • Specifying how the most recent value period is determined
    You can now specify how the periods for the most recent values view are determined.

  • New features in version 10.2.0 Cognos Workspace Advanced

    Listed below are new features since the last release.
    • Cognos Business Insight and Cognos Business Insight Advanced are renamed
      Two product components are renamed in this release to avoid confusion with the names of other components. IBM® Cognos® Business Insight is now IBM Cognos Workspace. IBM Cognos Business Insight Advanced is now IBM Cognos Workspace Advanced.
    • Improved support for bidirectional content
      IBM Cognos Workspace Advanced offers improved support for bidirectional content when authoring reports.
    • Copying results to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with more fidelity
      You can now copy data from a list or crosstab and paste it into a Microsoft Excel 2007 spreadsheet, while maintaining number formatting. This ability is a convenient way to quickly export your analysis.
    • Pasting a list of values from a spreadsheet into custom filters
      You can now paste a list of values copied from a spreadsheet such as Microsoft Excel into custom filters.
    • Enhanced crosstab headers
      In crosstabs, you can display headers that indicate the parent categories of the data items in the columns and rows. The headers help users to understand where the data is located in the hierarchy.
    • Inherited table styles in lists and crosstabs

    • Additional keyboard shortcuts for accessibility
      The report authoring experience is more accessible to people who have a physical disability, such as restricted mobility or limited vision. IBM Cognos Workspace Advanced now includes additional keyboard shortcuts to make it easier to navigate the user interface with a keyboard.

    • New features in version 10.2.0 Cognos Workspace

      This section lists the new features since the last release.
      • Cognos Business Insight and Cognos Business Insight Advanced are renamed
        Two product components are renamed in this release to avoid confusion with the names of other components. IBM® Cognos® Business Insight is now IBM Cognos Workspace. IBM Cognos Business Insight Advanced is now IBM Cognos Workspace Advanced.
      • Tabbed workspaces
        With tabbed workspaces, you can organize content on multiple tabs in a single workspace. Typically, each tab contains information about a particular area.
      • Global area in tabbed workspaces
        A tabbed workspace includes an area that is common to all tabs in the workspace. Here you can keep any object in view as you click though the tabs in the workspace.
      • Automatic chart recommendation
        In the widget toolbar, you can click Change Display Type  to automatically get the best display type for the data. IBM Cognos Workspace analyses the data and produces the most suitable display type.
      • Chart interaction
        You can select a chart or one or more parts of a chart and apply actions. For example, you can filter the chart contents.
      • Freezing column and row headings
        You can freeze column and row headings in lists and crosstabs. Freezing the headings keeps them in view as you scroll through the data.
      • Viewing column and row heading details
        In a crosstab, you can expand a column or row heading to view the details that make up the data.
      • Printing a workspace
        The print preview feature in a web browser enables you to adjust settings such as scaling and orientation to make your workspace fit on a printed page.
      • Graduated capabilities
        Access to functions and features in Cognos Workspace can now be controlled by the IBM Cognos administrator.
      • Action button widget
        Use this widget to create action buttons that help you go from tab to tab on a workspace. You can also use an image for the button.
      • Return button on the application bar
        Use the return button on the application bar to go back to the previous application, such as IBM Cognos Connection.
      • Google Chrome support
        The Google Chrome web browser is now supported for IBM Cognos Workspace.
      • Apple Safari support
        The Apple Safari web browser is now supported for IBM Cognos Workspace.
